There's also Kimberlyn, a Black on-air reporter at a conservative cable news outlet, played by Christina Elmore. Chozick also suggested the book “What it Takes: The Way to the White House” by Richard Ben Kramer. “You have these complicated, interesting women who all come from different backgrounds, different ideologies, different generations, and they are theoretically competitors, yet ultimately end up valuing each other over any of that," said Gugino. Throughout the episodes, the characters debate journalism ethics and ideologies and whether text, video or digital is the best medium. "Lola is arguing a point I’ve heard young journalists make or aspiring journalists make, that objectivity is sort of a myth.

Her mental tableaux of death look as if they were staged by the artist Gregory Crewdson. She imagines standing alone in a nondescript finished office basement as a giant snake slithers by. She imagines death, essentially, as peace in the midst of ever-changing nature. By day, Fran (Daisy Ridley) dons drab business casual and works in the sort of space that makes the environs of “The Office” seem like a magical wonderland. By night, Fran’s life isn’t much more interesting, but at least she’s in control of it.

The Cheesecake Factory is more than a staple of US shopping malls – it's a sign of financial health. Malls without a Cheesecake Factory were much more likely to be behind on their loans, Moody's found. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Cheesecake Factory first opened in Beverly Hills, California, in 1978 and has since grown to more than 200 restaurants across North America. The chain is typically located in or near shopping malls — a commercial real estate segment that has seen a rough few years with changing shopping patterns. To see how that relationship plays out in real life, I headed off for lunch at my local Cheesecake Factory at the West Towne Mall in Madison, Wisconsin.

Hayley is an American who spent two years living in Paris and going to school. She recently left Paris and is getting ready to travel to India and beyond. Once a week, I'd pick her up from school and we'd spend about two hours together. I'm going to do a week in India, then I'm going to do a few days in Singapore, then a week and a half in Australia with friends. I'm part of a Facebook group called Host a Sister so I'm staying with women in India who also love to travel solo and then with friends in all the other countries I'm going.

Ms. Sims, 54, may be the most surprising legal figure to emerge as the world grapples with the devastating impacts of a warming planet. And she is now the singular force behind a creative legal gambit to make oil and gas companies pay for the devastation being wrought by climate change in Puerto Rico. Her strategy is being carefully watched by the fossil fuel industry and environmental groups as well as other lawyers and municipalities. The lawsuit she filed in November goes after a who’s who of the fossil fuel industry — Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell, BP and others. The case is part of a new wave of litigation targeting oil, gas and coal companies over climate change, which is driven by the burning of their products.

This film, directed by the “Crazy Rich Asians” co-writer Adele Lim, may not reinvent the raunch-com wheel (see: “The Hangover,” “Girls Trip,” “Bridesmaids”), but it does change who’s driving the car. And, most importantly, it is really, really funny. “Joy Ride” processes all of its familiar ingredients into a sustained, sometimes near-berserk, barrage of jokes, interspersed with epic set pieces. That is, up until the two-thirds mark, when the movie paints itself into a corner and presses the “earnest sentimentality” eject button before managing a narrow escape. It’s a small price to pay for the inspired pandemonium that precedes.

Chicago's cycling community has exploded in recent years, and the city plans to add 150 more miles of lanes to accommodate this growth. The new, ambitious Chicago Cycling Strategy from the Chicago Department of Transportation, worth over $17 million, includes expanding Chicago's bike network by designing and implementing 150 miles of low-stress bikeways over the next several years. If you have friends that ride, ride together, if you have family members that are willing to ride, especially older ones, ride with them. Earlier in the pandemic, Chicago launched a program to give away 5,000 bikes to eligible Chicago residents by 2026. Green Corps participants have helped to assemble the bikes in the Bike Chicago program.

‘Asteroid City’ Review: Our Town and Country

“Asteroid City,” the latest from Wes Anderson, is filled with the assiduous visuals, mythic faces and charming curiosities that you expect from this singular filmmaker. It’s partly set in 1955 in a fictional Southwest town, a lonely four corners with a diner, gas station and motor inn. Palm trees and cactuses stipple the town, and reddish buttes rise in the distance. It opens in black-and-white on an unnamed television host (Bryan Cranston, severe and mustachioed) in a studio. It looks like a film, a meticulous, detailed, visually balanced wide-screen Wes Anderson one.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams appointed a "rat czar" to help eliminate rodents in the city. One Boston city official says the Massachusetts city should follow suit and hire a rat slayer of their own. Days later, Boston City Council President Ed Flynn recommended the Massachusetts city hire someone in a similar position ""to hopefully one day eliminate rats in Boston," the Boston Herald reported. In 2022, Chicago was named the number one "rattiest" city in the US over both New York City and Boston. "You can hear them screaming — ee, ee, ee, ee!"
